Safe Cruise

Project Safe Cruise Press Release: See www.projectsafecruise.blogspot.com & details below. Leave a message if you have experienced incidents involving poor security & safety practices of cruise lines. Hearings are scheduled; we will provide them to Congress. We must act to insure passenger safety. The current lack of safety & security is not acceptable especially after 9/11. On 5/12/05, we were on the Carnival Destiny near Aruba when an elderly couple disappeared without a trace.

Location: Michigan

Government could save $50 billion per year by having two shifts of white collar employees work each day. Office space costs $50,000/year for each employee yet we only use space 30% of time. We can no longer afford to have banker's hours for all. With over 2 million federal employees this cost-free paradigm change could avoid lay offs/furloughs and reduce pollution. Woman jumps overboard on Royal Caribbean Cruise ship near Bahamas

Florida Today reports the Coast Guard is searching for a 23-year-old female cruise ship passenger who reportedly went overboard near the Bahamas about 4 a.m. today. She went overboard from the 12th deck of the ship near Nassau, Bahamas. The ship is scheduled to return to Port Canaveral on Saturday. According to RCCL, The guest was last seen at 3:45 a.m. At that time, the ship was sailing from Nassau to Coco Cay, Bahamas. As soon as the guest was reported missing, various public announcements were made onboard and a complete search of the ship, as well of CocoCay, was initiated. Shipboard closed-circuit camera footage captured the guest going overboard on deck 11, portside at approximately 4:11 a.m. Government officials have reviewed the footage and determined that the guest jumped overboard.

131 individuals have gone overboard since the year 2000.

2009 was the worst year with 25. Many of the deaths were never investigated thoroughly and were never solved. Foul play should be considered for all incidents until they are fully investigated. The Cruise Lines continue to tell the media that this is a rare occurence. Nothing has improved since our cruise in 2005 when a beloved and respected couple fell overboard and died and the ship did not return to where they fell for over 12 hours and then there was no investigation of their murder. In the most recent case, the captain was not even notified of the death until 8 hours later. If somone died or was injured in a bar or a restaurant could they get away with waiting 8 hours before reporting it. Negligence by the cruise line and perhaps Congress? There have been recent congressional hearings but no effective legislation.
Then again why would any of the cruise lines be concerned about the death of one customer?

It was a very depressing and sad thing shared in this post....If any person does such kind of immature thing on a trip,It spoils the mood of every passenger traveling in the cruise ....also such incidents create a bad impression of the cruise company.

How does it happens, what the security do, this is a great disaster in the part of the cruise authorities. This must not happen again, because it is a great liability in the part of the Cruise company. timeshare relief

I agree, such a depressing experience, the sad thing about it is that the cruise company is liable for it, it can create bad impression to the company, hope things must be settled. transfer smart

I thought the woman is in a depress condition, but the great problem is the cruise would be liable to the said incident.
